Exciting News from Woodroffe Pediatric Dentistry (WPD)
Dr. Mahta Hazaveh joined our team in Oct. 2021 and immediately fit in so well that it seems like she has always been here. She grew up in Sweden and completed her general dentistry there. She then obtained a Master’s in dental science from McGill University and most recently, graduated as a pediatric dentist from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She achieved an amazing result on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry fellowship exam by finishing in the top 3% of all candidates. She is fluent in four languages which will help to make even more families feel comfortable here. We are really pleased that she chose our office to make her work home.
Dr. Hazaveh joins Dr. Ngoc Luong (who has been with us since 2011) and Dr. Aline Dufresne (who arrived in 2018) to make a wonderful team of pediatric dentists in providing excellent care for all children but especially those who find the dental office to be challenging or who have special needs.
Dr. Gordon Roberts has reached a decision to step back from direct patient care in August 2022. It has been 31 years since he moved to Ottawa to join Dr. Ian McConnachie as an associate. Dr. McConnachie started this practice in 1980 and with his expertise, helped WPD attract exceptional staff and provide empathetic, compassionate, and high-quality dental care to the children of Ottawa. Lori Roberts (who will still work as a hygienist) and Dr. Roberts will continue to manage the office for now and help the transition go smoothly.
On a personal note, Dr. Roberts wishes to thank his patients and families for their trust in Woodroffe Pediatric Dentistry over the years. He has truly enjoyed his time meeting so many young people and helping them become comfortable as patients in a dental office. One of the greatest joys of his professional life was to see his patients return as adults with their own children for their first dental visits. As sad as he is to stop patient care, he is so pleased that the patients will still be in great hands with the team that is in place at WPD.
